On Sunday evening, November 3, approximately 65 lay leaders from the three parishes in our collaborative met with representatives of the Archdiocese of Boston including Father Paul Soper, Director of the Office of Pastoral Planning, Sister Pat Boyle, Associate Director of the Office of Pastoral Planning, Sean Hickey, Assistant Director of the Clergy Personnel Office, and Father Bill Lohan, Parochial Vicar at Saint Mary Parish in Wrentham and Saint Martha Parish in Plainville and Clergy Personnel Board representative. Parish participants included members of the three parishes' Pastoral Councils, Finance Councils, and Staffs.
Participants were organized into tables of eight. Sean Hickey opened the meeting with an overview of the process. Then Sister Pat handed out five questions to each table (one at a time). After table brainstorming for 8 minutes on each question, each table then shared the highlights of their discussion.
1. What should the experience of the Mass be? Why would people want to come?
2. How can we increase adult faith formation participation?
3. What are the major demographic groups of your parish? What groups need more outreach?
4. Are their any major issues with your grounds or buildings?
5. What attributes should a pastor have?
Our Lady of Sorrows parish's participants represented well your input and the needs of this particular parish. Please continue to consult www.disciplesinmission.com and www.myolosparish.org to follow Phase Two implementation. We will continue to provide additional information as we are able.
