Confirmation

The Confirmation program at Our Lady of Sorrows is a two-year program offered to young people beginning their freshman year of high school. The mission of the program is to help young people enter into loving relationship with God so they can change the world. Over the two year period, Confirmation students are invited to grow in faith and prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation by attending monthly class sessions, participating in two day-long retreats, and learning outside the classroom through service, spiritual, and enrichment opportunities.  

Monthly Class Sessions

All Confirmation class sessions are held in the Bullock Center from 7-8:30 p.m.  Our first year Confirmation program meets one Wednesday evening per month.  Our second year Confirmation program meets one Sunday evening per month.  Please see the full program calendar below.

Service

Service Opportunities provide students with a chance to live out their faith and participate in the Acts of Mercy to which Jesus calls us.  Each Confirmation student is invited to take part in as many service opportunities as they like, and is expected to participate in and reflect on at least one their ninth grade year and one their 10th grade year.  After serving, students should complete a Service Reflection Form in order to reflect upon their experience and receive credit for having taken part in it.  Click here for a complete list of service opportunities and to sign up, complete a permission slip, and learn more (will be available in mid-August).  The list will be updated throughout the year.

Spiritual and Enrichment Experiences

OLOS offers a variety of Spiritual and Enrichment opportunities, intended for parishioners to build community, practice their faith, learn in varied ways, and deepen their spirituality.  Each Confirmation student is invited to take part in as many experiences as they like, and is expected to participate in and reflect on at least three spiritual or enrichment opportunities their ninth grade year and three their 10th grade year.  After each event, students should complete this Spiritual and Enrichment Reflection Form to reflect on their experience and receive credit for having taken part in it.  Click here for a  list of Spiritual and Enrichment Opportunities.  The list will be updated throughout the year. 

Retreat

Mass

The celebration of the Eucharist is the source and summit of our Catholic Christian Faith.  Confirmation candidates should attend Mass with their families throughout the year.
